In light of the tiktok ban then un-ban, I have decided to make a blog post with my top 4 makeup products that went viral on tiktok. In this post I will be ranking these products on a scale of 1-10 (1 being 'horrible I deserve my money back' and 10 being 'take all my money'). I will also be listing the products in order of my favourite to least favourite.

1. Christian Dior Backstage Glowface Palette

This product really blew me away. I cannot get enough of it, and I cannot stop telling people about it. I've put this as number 1 because it truly deserves this spot, and it is one of those rare products that are extremely hyped-up which stay true to the hype. I've been wearing this blush out quite a lot, and at least 7 strangers in the span of a few weeks have come up and asked me what product I used. As it is by far my favourite product on the list, here are the pros and cons:

Pros

  • Amazing ratio of pigment to highlight. This palette has a great balance between the colour of its powders and sheer highlight. For example, my favourite part of this palette is the blush as it isn't too strongly coloured, and acts as the perfect in-between for highlight and blush creating the perfect glow look.

  • Multi-functional. I love how this palette can function as a highlight, blush, bronzer and eyeshadow because it includes four shiny powder shades. I've attached a photo (below) of how I use each shade, however I would strongly recommend trying out different combinations and experimenting to see what works with your skin tone:

  • Silky formula. As a powder formula, this product goes on so silky. It's not patchy and applies evenly.

  • Non-comedogenic and Dermatologically tested. In general I do find that powder products are more acne-safe, and as someone prone to acne, this product has never once broken me out.

Cons

  • Expensive. At a retail price of £43, it's no cheap buy. It's not the most expensive product ever, but it's definitely up there. It's one of those products that really gets costly if you use it a lot and have to buy it on the regular. However, from what I've heard, these blush palettes last a pretty long time.

You can get the Christian Dior Backstage Glowface Palette via their website here:

I bought it in the shade 'Universal', so this review is completely based off my experience with that specific palette. I got it directly from the website, so it came with a free sample and a mini Dior pouch bag. I believe Sephora, Boots and many other places sell this as well.

Overall, I rate this product a 9/10. However, this is me being a harsh judge. I am hesitant to give out complete 10s as I want to be realistic. The price point is definitely a strong factor in what lost that point but round of applause because this is probably as close to a 10 you guys will see today.

2. NYX Plump Right Back Primer

In second place comes the NYX Plump Right Back Primer. I've put this product in second place both because of the price point factor as well as the effectiveness of its formula. It is probably in the top two primers I have tried to date. Lets go through its pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Tacky not sticky. The point of a primer is to create a base that allows the makeup to sit well on the skin. This primer really achieves this by adding an amazing oil-free firmness to the skin, drying to a texture I like to call 'tacky'. It's almost sticky (in the best way possible), and essentially creates a surface that lightly adheres to your touch without being overly clingy. It's kind of like all the amazing benefits of something grippy, but without the disgusting sticky texture.

  • Oil-free. Something that I really love about this primer is how well it combats oil. As an oily-skin girly, this primer is so refreshing. It has almost zero oiliness, and includes electrolytes which hydrate, brighten and plump the skin to create a fabulous dewy base (See image above for more details about the electrolytes and vitamins)

  • Drug store. This primer goes on the market for a retail price of £12. Given how amazing and high-quality the formula is, I genuinley don't understand why they make it so cheap (although I'm definitely not complaining) If this were double the price, I would probably still re-buy it.

Cons:

  • Scented. While I personally quite like the fact that it is scented, I've seen some reviews from people saying they don't appreciate the smell. It's not a particularly strong or pungent smell, but it's no Daisy perfume by Marc Jacobs.

You can get the NYX Plump Right Back Face Primer in most drugstores, amazon, ebay and their website. I have linked the primer from their website here:

Overall, I rate this product a solid 9/10 as well. I loved this primer. The reason I knocked off a point is that the primer feels slightly sticky before it dries tacky. I can understand that if someone really hates the feeling of stickiness on their face, and this might initially bother them.

3. IT Cosmetics cc+ Cream

In third place is the IT Cosmetics CC+ Cream. I had heard about this product for years before I actually bought it, and I can confirm it did not disappoint. It’s more like a foundation than a light CC+ cream; however, it really lives up to the 'CC (colour correcting)' part, as it worked full coverage for me, and can definitely cover all those pores.

Pros:

  • Fabulous coverage. The packaging says the product is 'Full Coverage'. They ate and left no crumbs when they said this. I've found that this cream covers almost anything no matter how red or hyper pigmented my skin is. It is also worth mentioning that the medium-full formula is buildable, and a little goes a long way. It really does feel like this product was created for people like me, with uneven skin-tones and hyperpigmentation.

  • Crease-free formula. This silky formula feels like a second skin. It doesn't become patchy as you add more, and perfectly evens out the skin tone. When I use this product I truly feel like I have a second skin that's perfectly unblemished.

  • Acne safe and SPF 50+ UVA/UVB. I think it is worth mentioning that this product has never once broken me out. It also has SPF 50+ which is another layer of protection from the sun for your skin.

Cons:

  • Oily. As I have oily skin, I found that by the end of the day my skin looked extra oily. The product itself still sat well, I think it is just the fact that this product is meant to have a dewy finish which looks perfect at the start of the day but the result after a long day is an overwhelming oil-show of too-much dewiness. (FYI It Cosmetics released a 'matte' version of this product which I have yet to try, but may be suitable for oily skin girlies like me :) )

  • Looks heavy for someone looking for a more 'natural look'. If you are looking for a natural looking no makeup look then maybe this isn't the product for you. Although it is buildable, the formula itself is still medium-heavy meaning even the first layer will have pretty strong coverage. If you are looking for something more skin like then perhaps try out the 'Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint' or the 'Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation'.

You can get the IT cosmetics cc+ creams at boots, amazon, Sephora and their website (etc). I have attached a link to the product on the Sephora online shop here:

Overall, I rate this product a 7.5/10 (I've been harsh). This may come as a shock judging by how much I praised the formula, however the reason why I have done this is because I personally did not like the undertone of the closest shade match they could offer me (fyi they have a very respectable shade range, I'm just picky). This is purely a personal preference, as I wanted something a bit more olive than the shade I got, but they didn’t have anything that matched what I was looking for. I also knocked some points off because I did not like how this looked on my face by the end of the day. Sometimes when I use this product, by the end of the day my face looks like it has enough oil to deep fry some chicken. I personally prefer more matte products, as I have an abnormally oily T-zone, and my oily skin works perfectly with that, striking the perfect balance for looking like a dewy-goddess-queen.

Alas, do not let my rating sway you. I would highly recommend this product to most people, especially those with normal to dry skin. It’s a very standard price, around £30, for something of this quality.

4. Saie Glowy Super Gel - Starglow

Finally, we have the Saie Glowy Super Gel in shade 'Starglow'. This product really took me by surprise because I was not expecting to like it. I tried the 'Sunglow' shade a few weeks prior to trying this one, and honestly it was just a bit much for me. It was probably because it was the dead of winter and my skin was the pastiest it had ever been so I looked like a tanned-orange attached to the body of a snowman (I shall try it again in summertime and possibly do a review of that too).

Pros:

  • As the name may suggest: it makes you glowy. I used this under my foundation, and did not expect it to make any difference. I can confidently say it worked, and that the effect is a subtle 'glow from within' look. It is definitely more on the natural side, which is actually nice because we don't want to be going around looking like a walking-disco ball. All in all, this product gives a very natural glow. If this is your vibe, I 100% recommend.

  • Non-comedogenic/ Acne safe. This formula has never once broken me out, nor have I seen any reviews saying it has caused other people to break out. I applaud Saie for this as it is a product that definitely looks like it would break someone out.

Cons:

  • Expensive for what it is. The Saie gel goes for a retail price of around £22 pounds. To be honest, I personally think this is a bit expensive for the use I am getting out of it as I don't really it use it for anything but as a base under my foundation.

You can get the Saie Glowy Super Gel in four different shades on Cult Beauty, Space NK or straight through their website. I've attached the link for Cult Beauty here: https://www.cultbeauty.co.uk/p/saie-glowy-super-gel-30ml-various-shades/13321953/?affil=thgppc&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAiAqfe8BhBwEiwAsne6gTXQw8XBaLaay6H1bmruknAyMZeXveeF_PFZeZlKNup3bbFWqBF3XRoCivkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

From my personal experience with the glow gel, I rate this product a 7/10. Do I think it does exactly what it says it will? Yes. Would I pay £22 for this product again? Probably not. Let me explain: This product is amazing for creating that inner/ dewy glow. As someone with super oily skin, I kind of already have that natural 'glow' look (but in the worst way possible because it makes me look like I don't wash my face) For me, the combination of my oily skin and this super glow-hydrating product doesn't go too well without a matte makeup on top. This is why I cannot use this product alone. If I did, I would look like an oil ball. If you are someone who struggles with maintaining hydration, and you are looking for the youthful natural glowy look then yes, I would highly recommend and I can completely understand why this has gone viral on tiktok for that. I will also add this product can be used as a subtle liquid highlighter as well. Therefore, more holistically (not taking into account my personal skin-type), I give this product a solid 8/10.

That is it for the tiktok products today girls! I hope you've taken some useful information from this review, and use this to decide on whether or not you'd like to invest in any of these products.

With kisses from ur glow-up gal pal,

Miss Priss 💋
